Can the children choose the activities they do?
The daily programme is set by the Event Organiser. If the children were given a choice they would probably choose sports that they are good at or commonly play. At Sports Galore we ensure that the children do a wide range of sports, many of which they will be trying for the first time. As the week progresses, the teachers get a feel of what the group enjoys and the activities towards the end of the week reflect that.
Do we need to send a packed lunch?
Yes. We provide drinks throughout the day and a drink and biscuits at morning and afternoon breaks. You need to provide a packed lunch with no nut products to protect children with allergies.
Do you provide an out of hours club?
At our London venues we have an Early Birds Club from 8.30am to 10am and a Night owls Club from 4pm to 5.30pm which is supervised by our qualified teachers.
How do you get your staff?
Our staff are all CRB checked and are qualified teachers who during term time typically work in London Prep Schools. We have a rigorous interview system and only the most enthusiastic, professional teachers are employed ensuring a fun-filled week in a safe enviroment.
I have two children, one aged 5 and the other 8, will they be in the same group?
Children are generally put into groups according to their age so that they are with children of roughly the same ability, size and maturity. If you feel strongly about children of very different ages being in the same group then please talk to Event Organiser or call the office.
What activities do the children do?
Each day there are six activities which depending on the age of the children will be a mixture of three or four sports plus two or three non-sports activities such as music, drama, art and computers.
What if my child doesn’t like an activity?
We have fantastic teachers who will do all they can to encourage children to join in with all activities. Sometimes children don't like to try something new but then go on to really enjoy it. However, if they really don't want to join in then that is fine.
What is a typical day at Sports Galore like?
Children arrive at 10am for registration and will be introduced to their group and be given a tour of the building. They will then spend the day doing 5 or 6 activities which will be 3 or 4 sessions of different sports with the other sessions being made up of music, drama, art or computers depending on the age of the children. By the end of the week the children will have done up to 15 different sports all with qualified instruction. Each day will be run slightly differently form the day before but will be fun-filled and action packed.
What should my child wear?
Comfortable clothing that is appropriate for an active week and the weather. We suggest T-shirt, shorts/tracksuit bottoms, jumper and trainers. During summer camps your child should wear a hat and a high factor sun cream.
